Royal Family Kids

What is Royal Family Kids?

Royal Family Kids is a ministry that reaches out and engages with neglected and abused foster children of Milwaukee County. In doing so they offer a week of summer camp that aims to give these kids the best week of their lives. Since many of these children have never experience a normal childhood, Royal Family strives to give them positive and wholesome memories and experiences that will never be forgotten. In the spirit of compassion the experience does not stop when camp ends. Royal Family also offers a year round mentorship program for these same children and now is also offering another ministry experience that will follow them into their teen years.

Summer Camp Gives Kids the Royal Treatment

A New Summer Camp for Kids is being launched this summer in Milwaukee County. Many are familiar with the camp experience from childhood. Canoeing, fishing, hiking, games and activities, and singing around the campfire bring back lots of fond memories for most of us, but there are a group of children today who have very little or no fond memories at all in their short lives. These are the abused and neglected children of Milwaukee County. This camp is for them.

Camp Purpose

The primary purpose of Royal Family Kids' Camps is to give abused and neglected children in the foster care system a week of positive memories in a safe and loving environment. Royal Family Kids’ Camps, Inc. is a national non-profit organization that works through churches of many different faiths to meet the unique and overwhelming needs of abused and neglected children. The camps extend Christian love and care, with adults modeling a non-violent, positive way of life as an alternative to many of the negative, abusive situations which abused and neglected children have faced.

Camp Staff

RFKC  camps are sponsored and staffed by people from local churches. The camp provides a 2-campers-to-1-counselor ratio allowing for lots of quality time with someone who really cares. To be eligible for attendance, a child must be a victim of abuse and, in most cases, living in an out-of-home foster placement.

Camp Goals

To give at least 30 children within the Milwaukee County foster care system a royal camp experience.
To lay a foundation of value and respect through loving role models.
To give encouragement, consistency, and the opportunity to make healthy choices.
To provide intervention that can help break the cycle of abuse.
To rebuild the child’s self-esteem.

Camp Sponsors

Changing Lives Assembly of God in Cudahy has launched the Milwaukee County branch of this national organization. The counselors and staff have been enlisted and are currently going through interviews and training.

Camp Funds

The week-long camp is offered free to children selected with the help of Milwaukee County Social Services.
